Manchester City are readying themselves for another go at the Champions League, hoping to win out against their opponents, Barcelona.

This comes a week after Pep Guardiola’s first team attempted but ultimately failed to make use of a Manchester derby for the sake of preparation in an important European game – but the academy wants to do better in the upcoming test.

The semi-finals are being held in Nyon, Switzerland, and will be the deciding factor of which of the two teams make it to the finals.

The competition is fundamentally a Champions League that only involves youth clubs, giving the, the chance for young up-and-comers to prove their mettle on the field.

Manchester City has long been seen as the underdog, especially when competing against more well known European clubs. Many see this as a good thing, however, allowing the youths to thrive in an environment that allows them to maintain the underdog status, especially when they’re harbouring such players as Lukas Nmecha and Daniel Grimshaw.

Barcelona is the favoured team to win, but there is still some home advantage, at least for one player. Swiss striker Lorenzo Gonzalez has stated, “We are conscious that we are making history but we want to do the best that we can so we need to keep going.”

He went on to say, “We have a big chance and we need to take it. If we play as we know, we have a big chance to win it. We need to do everything to win.”
