The Wallabies will be retaining their Rugby World Cup tradition by completely overhauling their tea before facing Uruguay in Oita. Despite the nature of their opening victory against Fiji and loss to Wales, coach Michael Cheika is expected to rest his key men and add his united players for the starting XV. Prop Scott Sio stated that he didn’t expect the selectors to veer too far from would have been their tournament plan, one which has been used by Australia at all of their most recent visits to the global event.
At the 2015 tournament, Cheika made 14 starting changes to their pool match against Uruguay, which they won 6503. Sio was the only starting player that was retained in the team. Versatile inside back Matt Toomua is set to be handed the five-eight keys for their upcoming match. Uncapped teenager Jordan Petaia has also recovered from his hamstring injury, and will be making a long-awaited debut, but it isn’t yet clear where he will be entering the team.
It’s believed that the coach will want to allow inside centre Semu Kerevi to rest. With Toomua likely to take the No 10 jersey, it could be a specialist outside centre such as Petaia or Tevita Kuridrani will start in the now empty No 12 jersey. Other options include Adam Ashley-Cooper and Kurtley Beale, while Reds star Petaia may take on the role of wing. The back is expected to be completely rotated for the event.
