has advanced to the ATP Finals last four after beating Novak Djokovic with a thrilling win during their time at the 02 Arena. Swiss third seeded Federer, who is 38 ears old, won 6-4 6-3 in a round robin match that has seen the Serb second seeded eliminated from the rest of the season, including the final four tournament that’s set to take place in London. Federer will be facing either Stefanos Tsitsipas or Rafael Nadal for the last four. Djokovic’s loss to Federer also means that Spanish Nadal is guaranteed to finish as the world number one by the end of the year.
33-year-old Nadal is far from reaching the last four, and will need victory over sixth seeded Greek Tsitsipas in order to advance. If Germany’s seventh seeded Alexander Zverev manages to beat Russian fourth seeded Daniil Medvedev, Nadal will be eliminated from the final four regardless of his end results.
Six time champion Federer, who had lost his opening game to Thiem, was jumping for joy after his latest victory, which goes some way to earning his revenge after he lost to Djokovic during the Wimbledon final in July. When asked how he played differently at the O2, Federer stated that he won a match point, and that it had been extremely close at Wimbledon. He added that it had been a privilege to play at the match, and that he couldn’t be happier right now.
