Three uncapped players have been named for the Wallabies squad as they prepare for their clash against the All Blacks in the third Bledisloe Cup Test in Japan, and where Sepoke Kepu is going to make his 100th appearance.
Waratahs lock Jed Holloway has earned his first call after he impressed during the Super Rugby season, while his team mate and scrum-half Jake Gordon will be joining him. Alongside these two will be Rebels flanker Angus Cottrell, who has been given the chance to join the team.
The three untried players are hoping to make their way into Michael Cheika’s spring tour squad, and make enough headway to be considered for next year’s World Cup taking place in Japan.
Reds centre Samu Kerevi will also be making his return to the 21-man squad after he was forced to miss the Rugby Championship due to a biceps injury. The 25-year-old player has not been involved in a match since their third Test against Ireland earlier this year, and Reece Hodge has taken up the outside centre in all six games in Kerevi’s place.
The upcoming game against the All Blacks in Yokohama will be memorable game for the Kepu, who is currently waiting to become the Wallabies’ 9th centurion player, and the first prop to earn 100 caps in Australian Test history.
Despite all the changes, there have been calls from the media and the public to have the coached axed before the team heads out to South America.
