Bangladesh beat the West Indies by five wickets, allowing them to set up tri-series final against the same team again. Mushfiqare Rahim. Along with Soumya Sarkar both earned half centuries, finishing off a strong run chase after their opponents only claimed 247 after electing to bat first. Jason Holder and Shai Hope were the only batsmen for the West Indies that were able to score well, but they both also fell to Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza.
After wining the toss, Sunil Ambris and Hope began the match with a positive start, but a short delivery by Mortaza saw the partnership come to an end as the Bangladesh bowlers claimed wickets at regular intervals. A century on the fifth wicket partnership between Hope and Holder had restored the hope of a competitive end, but Mortaza quickly returned to dismiss both men in a short span of time, and the West Indies were only able to add just 40 runs from their final six overs.
Bangladesh produced a strong batting display, and constantly looked in control of their run chase after Soumya, along with Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasin finished with half century partnership in an otherwise one-sided match.
The victory for Bangladesh has also ended any prospects for Ireland, who are the tournament hosts this year. The team, who have beaten the West Indies twice in a single week, are on course to take on Ireland before they head off to the final.
