afl-and-nrl-logosStats Predict Huge Betting Spike for the NRL and AFL Finals

With two epic football grand finals taking place over one weekend, punters, sports fans and online betting sites are gearing up for what is going to be a bumper weekend. According to research by Roy Morgan, more Australians are betting on AFL and NRL games than ever before. The research shows that an estimated 602,000 Australians over the age of 18 placed bets on either AFL or NRL games in 2016 alone. This figure is has risen from 520,000 in 2015, showing a definite spike in popularity.

The research showed that seventy per cent of all AFL punters used a gambling website or app to place their bet. Three years ago this figure stood at 48 per cent. Rugby League punters proved slower to convert with 62 per cent currently placing online bets up from 38 per cent three years ago. This weekend, almost fifty per cent of all Australian’s will be watching one or both finals on TV. It is estimated that at least one in every 15 viewers will be placing bets on the outcome of the games.

Australian men over the age of 50 are the most likely to be watching the finals. However, the stats show that the viewers most likely to be placing bets on the game are men aged between 25 and 34. The combination of NRL and AFL finals has caused quite a stir for online betting agencies and punters alike. This bumper sporting weekend has provided some unique betting opportunities and further chances for punters to pull in some big wins.

Crown Bet Launches NRL Grand Final Tipping Competition

For this weekend, CrownBet have launched a once-off NRL Grand Final Tipping Competition with a whopping $250,000 in cash prizes. This Sunday’s NRL final between the Melbourne Storm and the Cronulla Sharks promises to be one epic match. Punters who want to enter the tipping competition simply need to pick a winning team and a winning margin. This would be for the entire game including extra time.

The correct winners will share the $250,000 equally. In the event that no one correctly predicts the winning team and the winning margin, punters with the closest margin will be deemed winners. The competition officially commenced on the 26th of September 2016. Entries for the competition will close at the commencement of the NRL Grand Final on 2 October 2016.

With so many wagering opportunities on offer, punters are sure to find their ideal market and hopefully reap the rewards of  a successful bet.
