The Chargers Want Colin Kaepernick Back

June 19, 2020 by

Commissioner of the National Football League Roger Goodell is encouraging teams to sign free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick and many agree that the Los Angeles Chargers may be the best fit. Their coach, Anthony Lynn, thinks so too.

In a video media conference held on Wednesday the 17th of June, Lynn stated that although they have not yet reached out to the 32-year old passer, they’d be crazy not to if it turns out they need to sign another QB. Lynn said that Kaepernick fits the style in the system his team will be running and while he’s very happy with and confident in the three QBs he’s already got, you can never have too many great players. He’s referring to Easton Stick, Justin Herbert, and Tyrod Taylor. The Chargers drafted Herbert with the No. 6 Overall Pick in the 2020 draft, intending to make him passer when he’s ready to play over Taylor.

The Chargers are the first NRL team to admit that Kaepernick would be on their Workout List if they want or need to bring an additional QB in this year. It may be beneficial for them to have a backup of this calibre behind whomever they decide to use as a starter.

Kaepernick has, of course, not played an NFL game since the 2016 season. It was here that he started sitting and then kneeling when the national anthem was sung in protest against the police brutality and racial injustice in the USA. His formal claim of Collusion Against the NFL got settled in 2019.
